A while back, we let you know what you could expect in BlackBerry App World 2.0 , though there wasn’t much solid information available as to when we could expect it.

Lately there has been an abundance of speculation as to which devices will get BlackBerry 6, with no solid information being released from RIM to satisfy our questions.

Android handsets have seen an update today that adds Places pages, in addition to new search results. Luckily, BlackBerry users shouldn’t be left behind for too long, as a blog post on the Google Mobile Blog states the new features will be coming to BlackBerry soon. The new Places feature will allow users to search for specific types of businesses in your area, much like Poynt has been doing for some time now

So this was some pretty cool information that we got today.  We have all been hearing rumors about the next BlackBerry Bold 9700 and when we will be seeing it.

UberTwitter has undergone a series of improvements and updates to help meet the needs of BlackBerry users looking for the best Twitter experience possible. While still in Beta, this application has continually served as an excellent solution for Twitter services, and has seen yet another update, bringing UberTwitter to Beta 8 v0.98. This new version includes a new, redesigned user-interface, and adds a few features and capabilities popularized by other Twitter applications.

Last week we let you know that Opera Mini saw a small update for lower end devices, one which appeared to have had little effect on BlackBerry users. It seems Bitstream has decided to push out an update of their own for the Bolt browser, which aims to correct specific bugs and concerns reported through user feedback. According to the official press release, v2.11 addresses server response times which caused some websites to hang at the 20% loaded mark.

Seeing the idea first popularize within MSN messenger, many people like to share the music they’re listening to with friends via status updates, timeline posts, etc. To accommodate those who want to share what they’re currently listening to, a new application has been released, though still in beta, to do exactly that. BB Tweet Media player can automatically update your Twitter profile with your current tune, or you can do so manually for specific tracks

If you are a Google Reader fan then you will love this app called BerryReader from BellShare! It is a Google Reader client that has a lot of features to it, check it out: Access your All Items, Starred Items, Shared Items, a single feed or a single folder for reading Automatically update in the background every 15, 30, 45 minutes, 1 or 3 hours Manage (add/remove) subscriptions from your device Quickly toggle an article’s Starred, Like, Unread and Shared labels or edit the article’s tags for later filtering. The other day I had the oppertunity to speak with a RIM rep about what is going on with RIM and BlackBerry. If you have noticed, other Smartphone companies have released some pretty nice looking phones recently such as the HTC EVO 4G, the I-Phone 4, the HTC Incredible, and we will soon be seeing Droid X

Opera Mini 5 has seen it’s first official update since it came out of beta, bringing it’s version up to 5.1. According to the official Opera blog, the update further improves browsing on phones with limited memory, and includes a new optimized browser skin allowing more pages to be opened at once, more rapid scrolling, and overall improved browsing performance. While the update isn’t critical for high-end devices and has really been implemented for users of handsets like the Nokia 5310 or Sony Ericsson W810i, BlackBerry users should probably still update to ensure the best browsing experience possible.
