Google has finally launched its first phone, Nexus One in Android Press event. We have heard so many rumors about the phone and eventually all of them turned out to be true.

As the features and screenshots of Google’s phone were already leaked on the internet, there was nothing new for techies. However, Google gifted Nexus One to each person present in the event.

Google’s first phone is available on T-Mobile with 2 Years contract and it costs $179. International users will have to pay $530 for unlocked model. Currently, Nexus One is launched in US and it is expected to launch in few more countries.

HTC has launched its high end Windows Mobile phone HTC HD2 and Google is also releasing its much awaited phone, Nexus One, on January 5th.

Both the phones have all the features that can fulfill the needs of a common man as well as a geek. I have been following these two phones quite closely and thought I should write a post, which will help all the readers take wise decision before buying the phone. Let’s compare Google Nexus One and HTC HD2 with each other.

Operating Systems:

HTC HD2 runs on Windows Mobile 6.5, which is said to be a just another update for Windows Mobile phones and many Windows Mobile users have disappointed with its overall performance. Windows Mobile 6.5 doesn’t have any special features that can make the mobile experience better. However, Nexus One’s Android 2.1 OS is the latest OS on Android phones. It is certainly smoother and faster than its previous versions. So, Nexus One has edge over HTC HD2.

Weight:

HTC HD2 weighs around 157g where as Nexus One weighs only 133g. People always prefer a light weighted mobile phone and such phones are always easy to carry anywhere in the world. Hence, Nexus One got one more point now.

App Store:

iPhone, the best mobile phone in the world, has gained its popularity due to the well maintained app store. Android’s Market is still new place and doesn’t have good quality apps for users, where as HTC HD2 has got good marketplace to buy apps and games.

Price:

Nexus One’s price has not been declared by Google, but some sources have confirmed that it will cost around $530. HTC HD2 is available in the market and it costs for $740. Now, there is nothing much to say about the price, Nexus One has attractive price tag as compared to HD2.

Note: Google Nexus One has not released yet, and above analysis is done with the help of information available on the internet.

Well, everything else is pretty much common in these two phones. There are very less points on which we can actually compare them and get the final result.

Conclusion:

Nexus One and HTC HD2 are truly best phones in their own categories, but if we compare them, Nexus One beats HD2 in various important factors mentioned in the analysis.

Google’s Android press conference is just two days away, where the company is said to be releasing its first mobile phone, Nexus One in the market. We have heard so many rumors about the phone and it seems people will continue to do so until its official release.

We have already seen the leaked screenshots, features and first video of Nexus One. It is also being said that the phone will cost for USD 530, but still no confirmation on its price tag.

Today, Garett Rogers from ZDNet has shared a list of countries and their extra charges for Nexus One. He has mentioned that mobile users living outside the US will have to pay more.

An excerpt from his post -

If you’re outside the US though, that $529 turns into ($529 * your exchange rate) plus some pretty crazy taxes and duties if you want to even get it into your country.

Garett has listed more than 25 countries in which people need to pay these added taxes. Check out the list below -

For US people, T-Mobile is an official carrier and it is impossible to implement the same strategy in other countries. US users will have sign the two years contract to get this phone. If you live outside the US, you may not have to sign such contract.

Take a look at the extra price again and calculate the approximate price.

Google’s first Android based phone, Nexus One, is almost ready to get launched. Today, Google sent press invites of an event, which will be held at their corporate headquarters in California. The invitation cards of the event suggest that it will be an Android press conference.

Nexus One also runs on Android operating system. Google will definitely shed some more light on their much awaited phone in the Android press event. Take a look at the screenshot of invitation card below.

Android press gathering is held on January 5th, 2010, where Google might officially release the Nexus One. Google’s Nexus One is certainly the best phone in Android phone series and would give great competition to other forthcoming phones.

Apple’s event will also be taking place in next month. So it would be interesting to see what Google has stored for its competitors.

Few days back we have seen the fist pictures of Google Nexus One and it looked like HTC Passion. With 5 Megapixels camera, stylish design and Snapdragon Processor, the phone looks simply awesome.

Looking at the Google Nexus One ‘X’ booting video, we can confirm that the phone is almost ready for its launch. It’s just matter of time when Google will make an official announcement of its release and other important features.

However, some rumors suggest that Google Nexus One (subsidized version) will be available at USD 199.

He has also quoted one line about Nexus One -

Google Phone = iPhone + a little extra screen and a scroll wheel. Great touch screen, and Android

Google has not revealed any information about Nexus One yet and it is too early to predict anything on this device. The leaked picture of Nexus One looks very similar to HTC Passion, which will also be releasing in the next year.

Mario Queiroz, Vice President, Product Management of Google, has given some insights of Google Phone in his blog post. He has clearly mentioned that Google team is working on a mobile device which is now being tested by Google’s employees. However, he didn’t reveal the name of Google Phone and its specifications.

We recently came up with the concept of a mobile lab, which is a device that combines innovative hardware from a partner with software that runs on Android to experiment with new mobile features and capabilities, and we shared this device with Google employees across the globe. This means they get to test out a new technology and help improve it.

Unfortunately, because dogfooding is a process exclusively for Google employees, we cannot share specific product details. We hope to share more after our dogfood diet.

The Nexus One which is rumored as Google Phone looks like HTC Hero and HTC Passion (Not released). It also has a trackball at the bottom of front screen to navigate the phone. Few people have managed to gather more information about Google Phone. Let’s take a look at it.

It is being said on many blogs that Google Phone will come out in February 2010. So now we can simply sit back and wait for next year when Google will release the Google Phone. According to some other rumors from Apple world, the company is also working on its next phone i.e. iPhone 4G. It would be interesting to see Apple’s next iPhone and Google Phone competing with each other for the no.1 position in mobile phone market.
