Foursquare Releases Beta BlackBerry App

foursquare bb 300x225 Foursquare Releases Beta BlackBerry AppOver the past couple of months Foursquare has been testing their private beta BlackBerry app.  Like any other application they wanted to make sure all the bugs were fixed before they released it to the public.  Well it appears the app has been tested enough and Foursquare for BlackBerry is now available to everyone.

If this is your first time hearing about Foursqure, where have you been?  More than likely you have seen your friends “checking in” to certain landmarks on your Twitter stream.  This is because Foursquare and Twitter go hand and hand.  Basically Foursquare is a social networking game.  The objective is to go out and explore your city or town by checking in to certain landmarks from your phone.  The more you check in the more points you get and eventually you start unlocking special badges.  If you’re really into the game and check in to a place more than everyone else you become the mayor of that location.  It’s really a great way to get people out of the house and become more involved in their city.

Foursquare for BlackBerry has all the essential features you need to succeed in the game.  You can easily find the nearest landmarks as the app will work with your built-in GPS.   If you can’t find the place you’re looking for simply do a search to find the location.  You can also access your friends lists and send out a shout from the dashboard.   Keep in mind the app is still in beta so if you find any bugs be sure to let them know.
